Bill Engvall (born William Ray Engvall Jr.) is an American comedian and actor. The comedian is best known for his work as a stand-up comic, his signature “Here’s Your Sign” bit, and as a member of the Blue Collar Comedy group.

Engvall was born in Galveston, Texas to his parents. His father is William Ray Engvall Sr. who was a U.S. Navy doctor prior to going into private practice. However, the comedian has not disclosed his mother’s name. Bill spent most of his childhood in Galveston prior to moving to Winslow, Arizona. Moreover, he later moved back to near Dallas, Texas during his middle school.

Engvall moved to Southern California in 1990 to dedicate full-time to comedy. He began by hosting the cable show A Pair of Jokers with Rosie O’Donnell and an appearance on The Golden Palace where he played Blanche’s son Matthew, a stockbroker turned aspiring comic. Moreover, the actor’s other early appearances included hosting A&E Networks An Evening at The Improv as well as stand-up routines on The Tonight Show and the Late Show with David Letterman.

As a contestant on the 17th season of Dancing with the Stars, it was announced in 2013 paired with professional dancer Emma Slater. However, the judges usually placed him and Slater at the bottom of the leaderboard but an enormous fan base kept them in the competition. This resulted in higher-scoring contestants including Elizabeth Berkley, Leah Remini, Snooki, and Christina Millian being voted out instead.
