The actor together with his family lived in Chicago for thirteen years before moving to Omaha, Nebraska. While living in Chicago, the actor had his first on-stage experience in a community theatre at the Sheraton Convention Center by singing This Little Light of Mine.
In his senior year, at Millard West high school at Ohama, the actor was offered his first professional acting job by director Alexander Payne. Alexander Payne spotted Klein while he had gone for scouting at the actors home town of Omaha, for a potential filming location for the film election.
