Colin Kaline Biography

Born in Detroit, Michigan, Colin Kaline is an American former baseball coach and former second baseman and third baseman.

He was previously the head coach of the Oakland Golden Grizzlies, where he retired from in 2019. Kaline is the grandson of the late AI Kaline, a former American professional baseball player.

Kaline is the son of Michael Kaline. His father used to play baseball as well when he was in college at Miami University of Ohio. Ther is no information about his mother at the moment. We will provide this information as soon as it is available.

Kaline is married to his wife Stephanie Eller. Kaline and Stephanie got married on October 26, 2013. The couple, later on, welcomed their first child, a girl, in the fall of 2018. They named her Kennedy.

Colin Kaline Baseball

Kaline went to Birmingham Groves High School in Beverly Hills, Michigan. While there he played for the school’s University baseball team for 4 years.

During the 2007 Major League Baseball draft Kaline was selected in the 25th round. He, however, did not sign and instead, he enrolled at the Florida Southern College, to play college baseball for the Florida Southern Moccasins baseball team.

In the year 200, as a freshman at Florida Southern Kaline had .250 batting average, hit 3 doubles and a .313 SLG. In 2009, as a sophomore, he batted .227 with a .349 SLG, 1 home run, and 24 RBIs and during the 2010 season, he scored 45 runs and hit 5 doubles.

As a senior in 2011, Kaline recorded 41 hits, 1 home run and had 17 RBIs.

He was drafted in the 26th round of the 2011 Major League Baseball draft by the Detroit Tigers. Kaline played two seasons for the Connecticut Tigers and the West Michigan Whitecaps before retiring from playing.

Coaching Career

In the years 2014, Kaline returned to his alma mater where he coached for three seasons as an assistant. On July 12, 2016, Kaline and Jacke Healey were named co-head coaches of the Oakland Golden Grizzlies baseball program after John Musachio was fired.

He resigned in March 2020 due to health reasons.
