Dan Abrams (Daniel Abrams) is an American television host, author, legal commentator, and media entrepreneur. Additionally, he is the host of the prime-time show Dan Abrams Live on NewsNation, and The Dan Abrams Show: Where Politics Meets The Law on SiriusXM’s P.O.T.U.S. channel. Besides, he is the Chief Legal Analyst of ABC News.

Abrams was born and raised in Manhattan by his parents Efrat  who was well known as an attorney and Floyd Abrams an expert on constitutional law. In addition, he was raised together with his sister Ronnie Abrams who was nominated for a federal judgeship in 2011 by Barack Obama .

In June 2012, he had his first son with his ex-girlfriend Florinka Pesenti, who was the winner of the 2002 reality competition on The Amazing Race 3. Additionally, he was a co-owner with David Zinczenko of the restaurant The Lion in Manhattan’s Greenwich Village neighborhood. Besides, The Lion closed in 2015.

In 2011, His sister, Ronnie Abrams, was nominated for a federal judgeship by Barack Obama. Moreover, she received her commission on March 23, 2012. From May 1994 to June 1997, she served as a reporter for Court TV. Later, from 1997 to 1999, he served for NBC News as a general assignment reporter. Since June 12, 2006, to October 2007, he worked as the General Manager of MSNBC. Additionally, he left NBC in March 2011 to join ABC News as Chief Legal Analyst and a replacement anchor on Good Morning America.  In June 2013, ABC named him as the network’s Chief Legal Affairs Anchor.

Furthermore, he founded Mediaite, a news site dedicated to “appreciating the celebrity of the media,” as he put it. Together with Michael Lewittes, he founded Gossip Cop in 2009, a media watchdog site that tracks celebrity gossip.  Besides, the Mary Sue, a sister site to Geekosystem, became launched in 2011 with the aim of “highlighting women in the geek community.” In addition, he founded LawNewz, a legal news website that as well offers live streaming of trials as part of its online network (2016).

On October 15 2018, he launched his new media channel, Ambo TV, a Christian TV streaming service,  “devoted to airing Christian sermons with in-studio discussion ” Geekosystem, Mediaite’s first official “offspring,” became unveiled on January 25, 2010. In addition, he opened The Braiser, a website devoted to the identities and lifestyles of chefs, in May 2012. Besides, he Styleite launched with news and opinion content and also a fashion edition of the “Power Grid” in March 2010.

Abrams  attended Riverdale Country School in 1984.  Furthermore, he graduated and received his B.A. cum laude in political science from Duke University (1988). Besides, he anchored newscasts on the student-run channel Cable 13 and was vice president of the student body while at Duke. Additionally,  he received a J.D. from Columbia Law School.
