Born in Petah Tikva, Israel, Gal Gadot is an Israeli actress, model, and producer. She is widely known for being crowned Miss Israel in 2004 and for her role in Wonder Woman (2017), Wonder Woman 1984 (2020), Netflix’s Red Notice, and Justice League ( 2021). The actress served for two years in the Israel Defences Forces as a soldier.

Gadot was born to a teacher and an engineer. Her mother is named Irit, a teacher, and her father is named Michael Gadot, an engineer. Both her parents were born in Israel and they changed their surname “Greenstein” to Hebrew name, now Gadot.

She has a sibling sister named Dana. Dana is younger and the only sibling of the actress.

Gadot got married in 2008 to an Israeli real estate developer named Yaron Varsano. The two met while she was still serving in the military. They met at an event in the desert (desert yoga retreat), South of Israel.  The film producer, together with her husband formed a production company, Pilot Wave, in 2019. They also owned a hotel in Tel Aviv, however, they sold it to Roman Abramovich in 2015 for $26 million.

Gadot announced in October 2020, that she was going to star in Hanna Flint Called it, which she also co-produced. After the announcement, critics said that an Arab or an African actress should play Cleopatra, an ancient Egyptian queen. In her defense, she told BBC Arabic: “We were looking for a Macedonian actress that could fit Cleopatra, she wasn’t there. And I was very passionate about Cleopatra.”

The actress further added: “I have friends across the globe, whether they’re Muslims or Christian or Catholic or atheist or Buddist, or Jewish of course. People are people, and with me, I want to celebrate the legacy of Cleopatra, and honor this amazing historic icon that I admire so much.”
