Reid is a professional journalist and a national correspondent for MSNBC, and a political analyst. The journalist graduated from Havard University with a visual and environmental major, with Concentration in film, in 1991. She is a 2003 Knight Center for Specialized Journalism fellow.
The journalist began her career in 1997 in a Business Consulting firm. From 2006 to 2007, she worked as the co-host on Radio One’s morning talk show, Wake Up South Florida. Between 2011 and 2014, she worked as the managing editor of TheGrio. The Grio is a daily online news platform that focuses on Black American experiences including social justice, politics, racism, entertainment, and education.
Reid hosted her cable news show The Reid Report for one year (February 2014 to February 2015). From 2003 to 2015 she was the political columnist for Miami Herald and the editor of the Reid Report political blog from 2000 to 2014.
She is the author of the book ” Fracture: Barack, the Clintons, and Racial Divide” ( William Morrow/Harper Collins 2015), Co-editor of The Change We Seek: The Speeches of Barack Obama“(Bloomsbury USA,2016).
In 2019 she published a book, The man who Sold America: Trump and the Unraveling of the American Story.
In 2018, Reid was in the middle of a controversy rising from her past comments on the blog The Reid Report which had been Dormant. The comments were termed as homophobic and Reid seen as intolerant to the gay community. Reid has since apologized and she said that: “I regretted the way I had addressed a person’s sexual orientation with a mocking tone and sarcasm”.
