Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Kristen Welker is an American television journalist who works as a Chief White House correspondent for NBC News. She assumed the position in January 2021 after President Joe Biden’s inauguration, replacing Hallie Jackson.

She also works as a co-anchor of Weekend Today, the Saturday edition of Today, alongside Peter Alexander.

Welker graduated in 1994 from Germantown Friends School in Philadelphia. She went on and joined Harvard College where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 1998.

While at Harvard University, Welker majored in history and graduated with honors.

Walker joined NBC in 2005 at affiliate WCAU in Philadelphia, where she was a reporter and weekend anchor.
