Nina has been in the center of live coverage of the inauguration of President Barack Obama, the attacks on 9/11, Hurricane Katrina, and Superstorm Sandy. Together with her co-workers at WABC, she earned the Peabody Award of Excellence in Journalism for their live coverage of the September 11, 2001, World Trade Center Towers bombing.
The outfit she wore ( dusty red outfit she wore, a red suit and black shoes) and the clip reel of her reports are preserved in a Smithsonian exhibit on 9/11 through the Senator John Heinz History Center in her hometown, Pittsburgh, PA.
