Corning his television career as a general assignment reporter for WDTV, the CBS affiliate in Bridgeport, West Virginia. He then worked at WBOY, the NBC affiliate in Clarksburg, West Virginia as a weekend anchor and reporter.
He later left WBOY and joined WTOV in Steubenville, Ohio, and eventually joined KTVI, the Fox station in St. Louis, Missouri. After leaving KTVI, Corning joined KCPQ, the Fox affiliate in Seattle, Washington.
Corning had what would be called his big break when joined f The Daily Buzz, as a host and news anchor. The Daily Buzz was an American breakfast television show syndicated to affiliates of UPN and The WB.

He then went on and joined ABC News where he co-anchored World News Now and ABC World News This Morning from 2004 to 2006. While there, he was named by MSN as one of ‘The Best Anchors’.
WNYW-TV
On August 28, 2006, Corning began working as a co-anchor of Good Day New York at WNYW alongside Jodi Applegate. He left the station in 2008 after his contract wasn’t renewed.
Jodi Applegate was also released from the station later that year and the two were reunited in November 2009 at Cablevision’s News 12 Long Island as evening anchor team. Applegate left News 12 in October 2010.
WFAA-TV
Corning joined WFAA-TV in April 2011 as co-host of WFAA’s Daybreak, replacing Chris Flanagan.
