Samuel formerly co-anchored America’s Morning Headquarters (AMHQ) and 23.5 Degrees With Sam Champion on The Weather Channel. He left ABC on December 4, 2013, and became the managing editor of The Weather Channel.
He began working on Weather Channel on January 1, 2014. Sam also appeared on the Today show on NBC. Sam left NBC and Weather Channel in 2016 but returned to work on a fill-in basis to ABC channel. In June 2019, he returned to WABC-TV to become the weekday morning and noon weather anchor.

Following that, he returned to ABC to Fill in for Ginger Zee, as a weather forecaster on Good Morning America. Ginger Zee, the Chief Meteorologist for ABC, was on maternity leave hence the need.
