Lacayo grew up in a very artistic surrounding. Her mother’s Art Gallery called Museo-Galeria Genesis worked with plastic Artisans. Moreover, at the tender age of four, she took to sewing thanks to her grandmother’s advice. She wanted to be a fashion designer from a very early age growing up in such a stimulating and conducive environment. In addition, she sold stretch shirts made by herself to her friends for $2 when she was only 13. This was her first business at her school. This not only helped her single mother with finances but also helped her pursue her passion for fashion designing.
Furthermore, she began to explore the option of pursuing fashion designing as a full-time career when she was a little older. Unfortunately, Nicaragua, her country did not have any courses to help her with her dream. She enrolled at EAMODA after moving to Argentina.
Moreover, in 2010, she managed to secure a spot on Project RunwayLatin America which got her big break. She was the first runner-up on the show. However, they had to flee Nicaragua to escape the political violence in the country just as things were beginning to look up for her.
The fashionista founded her brand in 2020 and called it Shantall Lacayo S.A. Currently, it is an online business. She was the first runner-up in Project Runway Latin America in Argentina. It is a family business she runs with her mother created to promote unique designs produced with a social conscience. She incorporates the inspiration she gets from plastic artisans and their historical and modern artwork through the creation of original fabric prints and tactile material. Moreover, in order to retake and promote Latin American cultural roots, the brand also has the unique imprint of reinterpreting national autochthonous elements.
After leaving her mark on Project Runway Latin America, she is set to make a big splash on Project Runway season 19. In addition, she creates looks that make women feel like their strongest selves with colorful prints and textures with her ability.
