Born Alexandra Virina Scott MBE, Alex Scott is an English sports presenter, pundit, and former professional footballer who mostly played as a right-back for Arsenal in the FA WSL. She represented Great Britain at the 2012 Summer Olympics and made 140 appearances for the England national team.

Club Career

Start in England

At the age of eight, Scott signed on with Arsenal in 1992. After breaking into the first team as a striker or right-winger, the footballer was later converted to full-back. The footballer remained with Arsenal until the 2004-2005 season after which she was moved to Birmingham City. The club finished fourth in the FA Women’s Premier League National Division with the addition of Scott. However, due to Birmingham’s financial difficulties, the footballer returned to Arsenal for the 2005-06 season.

She helped Arsenal to a domestic double of the FA Women’s Premier League and FA Women’s Cup upon rejoining the club. Moreover, scoring once, the 2007-08 season saw her appear in 21 games. She made 35 appearances in all competitions scoring three goals. Furthermore, she scored once in 13 games in the 2008-09 season. She made 24 appearances in all competitions adding two goals.

Move to the United States

It was announced on 25 September 2008 that Scott’s WPS playing rights had been assigned to Chicago Red Stars upon the creation of a new women’s league in the United States, Women’s Professional Soccer. The Chicago Red Stars’ head coach was former Arsenal assistant Emma Hayes. On January 5, 2009, her rights were traded to Boston Breakers, and on 6th February 2009, it was announced she would be leaving Arsenal to join up with her new team.

Moreover, she played 17 games for the Breakers in the Inaugural 2009 Women’s Professional Soccer season. She added one assist and scored one goal. Additionally, she was featured in 21 games and registered two assists in 2010. The footballer started 14 of her 15 matches in 2011.
