Gorani is a CNN International anchor and correspondent stationed in London. She also covered the Egyptian elections in 2012 and has previously reported from Jordan and Egypt extensively. On the other hand, she was a key figure in CNN’s Arab Spring coverage.
Gorani reported the tragic earthquake in Haiti in 2010, for which CNN received a Golden Nymph award – one of the greatest awards in international journalism – at the Monte Carlo Television Festival the following year. Previously, she had hosted Inside the Middle East, a monthly show that included stories on the region’s most pressing social, political, and cultural issues.
Gorani has reported from every country in the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, and the Palestinian territories. Also, she is one of CNN’s most experienced international correspondents. She had a key role in CNN International’s coverage of the 2006 Israel-Hezbollah conflict, for which the network received an Edward R. Murrow Award.
In addition, Gorani was also honored with a News and Documentary Emmy for CNN’s coverage of Egypt’s 2011 revolution. This resulted in the ouster of the country’s then-president, Hosni Mubarak. On the other hand, she moderated the final session of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, in 2008.
