In 2000, she was promoted to Head of the BBC Weather Centre team for her broadcasting work. Young has also contributed to a number of children’s books on the weather, both as a writer and as a consultant.
Young is presently a Croydon governor. She has co-authored a children’s book, Discovery Plus: Weather & Sky, after her departure from BBC Weather. Also, she serves as an Ambassador for the School Travel Plan for the London Borough of Sutton, conducting assemblies and lessons on environmental concerns like weather/climate change to all age groups from Nursery School children to learned adults.
