Nina Hossain is a British journalist and presenter. She is employed by ITN as the lead presenter of the ITV Lunchtime News.

Nina Hossain Family

Hossain was born in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, England to her parents Tabarek (father) and Pamela (mother). In addition, her father was born in British India (now Bangladesh) and migrated to Britain in the 1960s. Moreover, her father was a psychiatrist with a specialism in alcoholism, who set up the Kirklees Alcohol Advisory Service in 1973 at the town center. Furthermore, he was the founder and president of Concern For Mental Health in West Yorkshire. Additionally, her mother is a nurse from Nottingham. Moreover, Nina has a younger sister named Rezina.

Hossain was first married to Craig O’Hara Sky News studio director,  for four years. Additionally, Nina is in a relationship with Stuart Thomas, former editor of ITV’s London Tonight regional news program. Besides, the duo has been together since the spring of 2005 and together they have three children.

Television career

Nina was chosen for a traineeship at ITV Border on Lookaround in 1996 where she was a news presenter, producer, and reporter. Additionally, she was a presenter for The Medical Channel in 2000. Hossain became a presenter and reporter for Newsroom South East and BBC London News on BBC London in 2001. Furthermore, she became the main presenter on the program in March 2004 whilst Emily Maitlis took maternity leave.

In addition, Nina was the word pronouncer for Series 1 of Hard Spell, a BBC One spelling competition for children. Moreover, in the one-off episode of the spin-off Star Spell, she reprised the role but with celebrities instead of children. However, she had joined ITV when Star Spell became a full series and hence was replaced by BBC newsreader Mishal Husain who continued this role through the second series of Hard Spell.

ITN

She joined ITN as the main co-presenter for the ITV Evening News on ITV in November 2004 whilst Mary Nightingale took maternity leave. Furthermore, Nina was a relief for ITV London (ITV News London) and ITV News (ITV Lunchtime News, ITV Evening News, ITV News at Ten, and ITV Weekend News) following Nightingale’s return.

Furthermore, Nina was also a guest presenter for GMTV, standing in for Lorraine Kelly on GMTV with Lorraine during April 2010. Moreover, Hossain replaced Katie Derham in June 2010 as a presenter of London Tonight, initially alongside Donal MacIntyre. Moreover, she became the sole presenter on November 1, 2010. Furthermore, Nina also presented the ITV Lunchtime News in a shared role with Alastair Stewart.
