Faris began her career with several communications-related jobs including an operations position at Mills/James Productions in Columbus, Ohio. She, later on, worked in radio sales until she began working as a production assistant at WKEF/WRGT.
In the year 2002, Faris started working as the weekend sports anchor and weekday sports anchor at WCPO-TV in Cincinnati until 2005 when her contract expired. She went on to become a sports reporter and anchor at the NBC affiliate WMAQ-TV in Chicago from November 2005 to December 2011.
