Rhondella Richardson is an American Emmy award-winning journalist/anchor. She is currently working as a co-anchor of WCVB-TV NewsCenter 5’s weekend morning newscasts.

She co-anchors alongside Jennifer Eagan for the Saturday morning (5-7 AM & 8-9 AM) and Sunday morning (5-7 AM, 8-9 AM, & 10-11 AM) newscasts and is a contributing reporter during the week.

Richardson has been a member of WCVB’s award-winning news team for more than two decades, beginning as a general assignment reporter in 1996. During her remarkable career, she has covered Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama during their vacations on Martha’s Vineyard, as well as the Boston Marathon bombings, the September 11 terrorist attacks, and the Boston archdiocese’s sex abuse crisis. Richardson has also chronicled every blizzard and the occasional tornado that has touched New England.

During a six-week supermarket strike in the region, Richardson is one of the few journalists to interview Market Basket CEO Arthur T. Demoulas. She has a flair for finding exclusives, whether it’s the teen lottery winner who can only be reached by snowmobile on the slopes of Mt. Wachusett or the non-English speaking injured victim carried for miles by a hit-and-run motorist.

Richardson has had a variety of positions at WCVB, including acting as an original co-anchor of the weekend EyeOpener when it first aired. Her extensive network of contacts and ability to break news stories propelled her from the anchor desk to the “5 Investigates” team for several years before transferring to general assignment reporter and fill-in anchor for WCVB’s multiple newscasts.

Her career has taken her to all of the top network affiliates. She formerly worked at KING-TV, an NBC affiliate in Seattle, WA; WJAR-TV, an NBC affiliate in Providence, RI; and WMUR-TV, an ABC affiliate in Manchester, NH.

Boston Magazine named Richardson one of “The 50 Most Intriguing Women in Boston.” For over a decade, she has emceed Boston’s annual “Duckling Day” Mother’s Day celebrations. Richardson describes herself as a mentor in motion and enjoys meeting new people through her career.
