Gates was the hosted Destination Truth on Syfy from 2007 to 2012. Its second season premiered with its best-ever telecast. It became the highest-rated second season performance by a reality series on Syfy delivering 1.7 million total viewers. However, the series ended after its fifth season.

Moreover, he traveled to Walt Disney World in Florida to meet with Joe Rohde, Walt Disney Imagineering’s Executive Designer in 2008. Additionally, Gates presented Rohde with a cast of the ‘Yeti’ footprint. Yeti was found during a Destination Truth episode by Gates. For the television series Ghost Hunters and its spin-off Ghost Hunters International, Gates hosted eight live specials. Moreover, on four episodes, he acted as a guest investigator. Featuring former Ghost Hunters members Jason Hawes, Steve Gonsalves, and Dave Tango, he produces the related Ghost Nation series.

This was to sell-off at auction to help raise money for research into Parkinson’s disease with the help of donating it to The Michael J. Fox Foundation.
