She worked at KTRK-TV in Houston for six years before moving to Dallas. Also, she has served as a reporter for TV stations in San Diego, Chicago, Waco, and College Station, shooting and editing her own stories at times. In the run-up to the 2008 Presidential election, Azad covered youth and politics for WAMU in Washington, D.C. On the other hand, she covered the International Criminal Court and the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia in The Hague, Netherlands, as well as war crimes in Africa and the Balkans.

Azad’s domestic assignments have included everything from political campaigns to severe and extreme weather to the mass theater shooting in Aurora, Colorado. However, from Palm Springs, California, she broke the news of former Houston Mayor Annise Parker’s same-sex marriage. Her recent coverage has included fitness, nutrition, medical advances, and research, as well as public health and infectious diseases, such as Ebola, Zika, and CoVid-19.

In 2011, she won an Emmy Award for her half-hour special report “Passage to India.” Azad was named one of the best reporters in Texas by the Texas Associated Press Broadcasters in 2012. In 2017, the Texas Medical Association honored her for her Egg Freezing series.
