In 1999, Holmes was a Nickelodeon intern. However, she was approached by a producer in a hallway at the network and asked if she would like to appear on air. She accepted and began co-hosting the show Slime Tome Live six months later. Between 2000 and 2004, Slime Time ran for eight seasons.
Moreover, in 2003, she was hired to host Bragging Rights for the OLN cable network (formerly Outdoor Life Network). She served as the host of the 13-episode reality television show, Bragging Rights.
In addition, she decided to relocate to Los Angeles to further her television career following her brief stint on OLN. However, she did not have a job at the time of her move. Her application was submitted by her agent to appear in a KTLA Morning News competition called ‘The Audition’. The Audition was a KTLA’s Morning News segment that was a game show competition. Moreover, the competition winner was going to be the new weathercaster on the show. The competition was determined by viewer votes and Holmes won.
Furthermore, she began doing weather segments on the show after winning the competition at KTLA Morning News. She was a helicopter-based traffic reporter for the show a month later. Moreover, she was tapped to co-host a new 9 am news show after two years of reporting traffic. She replaced Michaela Pereira and expanded her duties to include co-hosting the 7 am KTLA Morning News broadcast. Additionally, for the Primetime Emmy Awards, she regularly hosts the preshows.
