Cohan starred as Charlotte Higginson in the sequel to Van Wilder: The Rise of Taj in 2006. This was after her film debut Casanova as Sister Beatrice. She completed her contract obligations as a series regular at the conclusion of the eighth season of The Walking Dead. However, due to a payment dispute, she did not reach an agreement to sign on for season nine as a main cast member. She began making herself available for TV pilots. She departed the series in 2018. This was after she had reached an agreement to appear in five episodes in the first half of season nine of The Walking Dead.

In addition, in the ABC action comedy-drama, Whiskey Cavalier, she was cast as CIA operative Francesca “Frankie” Trowbridge. This was in the midst of The Walking Dead contract negotiations with AMC. Whiskey Cavalier premiered on February 24, 2019, and was picked up to series in May 2018. However, it was not renewed for a second series by AMC.
