In addition, she is now married to Houshang Touzie, a playwright and actor since 1987. In the early stages of her career, the couple collaborated together. Moreover, they have one child together, a daughter named Tara Jane. She has followed in her parents’ footsteps and is a budding filmmaker and accompanies her mom to red carpet events.

At Brunel University, Aghdashloo earned a bachelor’s degree in international relations once she arrived in England. After having to leave her country, she had an interest in politics. As her parents had taken her to London as a child, she was already familiar with England.

Starring in some prominent pictures such as The Report (1977), in her homeland of Iran, Aghdashloo achieved nationwide stardom in the 1970s. Moreover, with Desiderium, she established herself as one of Iran’s leading ladies. Also, she won wider acclaim in 1978. She left Iran for England to complete her education during the 1978 Islamic revolution. She received a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations due to her interest in politics and her concern for social injustice in the world.
As she continued to pursue her acting career, it eventually brought her to Los Angeles, California IN 1987. Additionally, she performed in a number of Houshang Touzie’s plays. Touzie is her husband who is an actor and playwright. However, she had roles in some decent though not great films as it was not easy getting work in Hollywood as a Middle Eastern actress with an accent. Twenty Bucks (1993), Surviving Paradise (2000), and Maryam (2002) are some of the films. As Dina Araz in the fourth season of the Fox television series 24 (2001), she received good reviews for her 12 episodes. However, to receive her break in Hollywood, she had to wait quite some time.
Moreover, Dreamworks was in the process of bringing the story to the silver screen years after having read the acclaimed novel ‘House of Sand and Fog’. She was duly the cast as they were looking for a relatively unknown Iranian actress to play Kingsley’s wife, Nadi.
Currently, as UN Deputy Undersecretary of Executive Administration Chrisjen Avasarala, she stars on Amazon Prime Video’s acclaimed television series The Expanse. Moreover, Avasarala has risen to the rank of UN Secretay General as of the end of season 3.
