Lisa McRee Career
McRee began her career as a news anchor for WFAA-TV in Dallas, Texas, in 1989. She worked at the station until 1991 when she went on to become one of the original anchors, of ABC News’ World News Now along with Aaron Brown.
She, however, left the show in 1993 for a chance to work as a host for Good Morning America Sunday. McRee later on moved to Los Angeles, California, in 1994 to work as an anchor for KABC-TV.
Good Morning America
McRee was hired as a co-anchor of Good Morning America in 1997, replacing Joan Lunden. She co-hosted the show alongside Charles Gibson until 1998 when she was paired with Kevin Newman after Charles left the show.
At that time, Good Morning America had been struggling in the ratings, and it still continued to perform poorly. McRee and Newman were, therefore, replaced in 1999 and reassigned to other duties within ABC News.
California Connected
For three years, McRee worked as a host and correspondent for California Connected, from 2004 until 2007. This was a TV news magazine that aired on 12 PBS stations in California. During her time there, ratings improved 43% in her last year. The program was, however, canceled due to lack of funding.
The Skinny
In 2011, McRee began a new project called “The Skinny,” which promotes healthful eating and weight loss. This project started off as a website but she hopes to turn it into a television series and book.
Good Day LA
Since February 2017, McRee has been filling-in as the co-anchor of Good Day LA on KTTV, the Fox Broadcasting affiliate in Los Angeles.
